"holy cow!!!"
Well I finally got the MKII out of the shop cause I needed the clutch and brakes redone so the missus could drive it before winter hits.
New master cylinders for clutch and brake, new clutch slave, new rotors, brake pads, lines and an adjustable portioning valve.
She runs...and sounds great. I have exhaust odors...which surprises me since it is a convertible...and I replaced exhaust manifold and ran new exhaust pipe???
The wife (the owner on paper... ) should get to drive it soon since she has had it a year and has needed to be worked on to get it running for the last 11 months.
Oh well the reason for the post was, I actually got to drive it and it drives GREAT!
More questions to come, since winter is near and I need something to do...
Thats great, its always nice to hear of a Spit coming onto the road rather than coming off the road. As for the exhaust fumes, a convertable will draw in the fumes from the exhaust more than a hard top. Although hard tops have had their smells too. On one of the rallies I went to years ago there was a chap who made up a clear perspex shield which went behind the headrests and stopped that odour from getting into the cockpit. It worked too. Basically it was the width of the Spit from door to door, and about 12 inches high. I cant remember how he fixed it. It also stopped the backdraft of wind from hitting the back of your neck. I was going to make one myself but never got round to doing it. I have seen them on some other Sports cars., maybe Porche ? Maybe you should try making one yourself. I am sure your good lady will appreciate that.
