"1300 engine wanted"
I don't know if there's anybody on here that can help me being a Brit so here goes...
I'm after a 1300 engine to go in my Toledo to return it to orignal spec (it has a 1500 engine fitted which came out of a Dolomite 1500HL) I think that the orignal engine is too far gone to be saved except for the cylinder head. As money is tight I would be willing to do a straight swap with my 1500 engine and I'd include the gearbox that came with it.
If you think you can help then please make me an offer.

Oh, there's plenty of us Brits on this site!
If you can't find someone prepared to do a swap, and money is tight, you could try approaching one of the companies that breaks Triumphs and buy a scrap engine, then re-build it yourself. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any Triumph dismantlers too close to Bradford, the ones that come to mind are TRGB near Cambridge, The Spitfire Graveyard in Sheffield, and Manvers Triumph in Suffolk.

And there's also Triumphland in Doncaster...
I was hoping to spend as little money as possible (preferably none!). That's why I'm offering the 1500 engine and gearbox (non-OD) as a swap. I got the 1500 engine for free off a fellow Triumph Dolomite Club member. I reckon my original engine is too far gone to be rebuilt (it would cost money anyway!) No 2 piston skirt has disintegrated taking the rings with it, the conrod is bent, the big end bearing on said piston also disintegrated gouging the crank in the process and there's a chunk missing from the bottom of the cylinder bore (probably chipped out by the conrod when it made it's getaway. I don't know if that bit of damage is significant) and there's a hole in the sump. The rest of the pistons, conrods and all the other bearings seem fine.
Anyway, it's a lot easier just to drop another engine in with a known history!

Just to keep you updated:
I've already had a couple of offers and the one that's nearest will be the one I will take up. I only know where one of them is so far so I can't make a decision yet. I will be offering the 1500 engine FREE to a good home and I will include the gearbox as well.

Latest update:
The offer I'm taking up is a Dolomite engine that's recently come out of a Spitfire. The guy is from Newcastle but the engine is in Darlington which is a bit closer for me and I can combine the trip with a visit to a mate in Middlesborough so I know the area quite well.

I've now got the engine.
I'm thinking about having the gearbox sorted out as the synchros are on their way out (esp when changing down from 3rd to 2nd). Anybody got a decent 3-rail box for my 1974 Toledo?

Latest update:
I've decided to fit the single rail gearbox and it just so happens that I have one that came with my 1500 engine and all being well I'll only need a speedo cable and I'll be back in business after I've fitted the engine.

I've managed to get a propshaft from the Spitfire Graveyard in Sheffield (Steel City) I'm now fitting the 1300 engine and lo and behold I'd forgotten that the sump is different so I'll now have to change the sump! Luckily I can rob the sump off my original engine but there's a hole in it (from when I killed the engine off!) so I'll have to get that welded up (just needs to be oil-tight). I've ordered a new sump gasket from Canley Classics on their website (http://www.canleyclassics.com) so I hope it gets to me before Christmas. I want to get my Toledo up and running again and then I can get it road legal.
