"swapping the mechanical gas pedal for the cable type"
 
   I am restoring a 1968 Spitfire and need to swap the mechanical gas pedal to cable type. I need direction on how to install one.

The first thing you need to do is source a cable-style throttle pedal. Look on eBay or the usual Spitfire graveyard sites for a pedal off a MkIV or later. You'll have to drill a 5/16" hole in the upper bulkhead, right above where the cable end will attach and clip on to the pedal shaft.

You'll also have to fabricate some linkage for the carb side of the cable to hold it in place in order to operate the throttle.
