"These are sporty cars!"
I bought a beater 78 1500 with no rust. I always bought beaters with rust and good mechanicals. This one had no rust and trashed mechanicals, Tony built up a super engine but it needed drive shaft balancing and had about 3/4 inches of toe out ??? how does this happen? Long story, 5 years, short story now I am breaking in Tony's hot motor and it is starting to rip!! After a long history of nurseing motors I am really starting to like ripping in the Spit! I always knew it should be good but I have a childhood memory of a sunbeam arrow throwing a connecting rod through the side of the block and pieces bouncing down the hwy... so 4000 rpm starts to trigger a fear response. I have worked through that to 4500 but how much farther can I go,, 5000? more?

I have run mine (which is essentially the same engine) in Slaloms, I do not fear 6k and have hit over 6.5K more than once (the engine was pulling strong, it just ran away with me!) But I would not 'plan' going that far.
I found that Monza 4 into 1 exhaust manifold you have, to be very strong at higher RPM, my 'new to me' 4-2-1 has more grunt below 3k, so on the road, I tend to 'short shift' a little.

I do not fear 6k
Encouraging words from the engine builder! I have spent most of my life short shifting to save old tired engines, so this is a new experience for me. This will be my new mantra " I do not fear 6K" Lyle
